I am the author of Garden of Her Heart, and host of the podcast, Write Damn It! I am also an experienced coach with more than 35 years working on mindset, and teaching others to be expert coaches. As well as this, with a masters in learning, I run fun workshops.
I have a grown up daughter, a granddaughter, a cockapoo who is convinced she's still a puppy despite getting old, and a husband who has put up with me for 38 years - I know, how is that possible, huh?
I did 50 things in my 50s, which included stand-up comedy, and humour is something I bring into all of my work. This comes from me being a suicide survivor, and I draw on my lived experience of emotional health and wellbeing in my writing, coaching, workshops, and life.
My debut novel, Garden of Her Heart, is published by UCLan Publishing and is available to purchase now. Reviews - mainly 4 and 5 stars - are universally describing it as a hug in a book, and a perfect holiday read.
I am now working on book 2, a stand alone sequel to Garden of Her Heart, and on a non-fiction book to help you be your own book coach. More news on both of these books will follow in the autumn.
I started the Write, Damn It! Podcast to help myself when I struggled with my writing after being made redundant from an NHS job I loved, and here we are, over 100 episodes later, and listeners regularly tell me how listening in helps their writing.
Many writers request to be on the podcast, so I mainly focus on contacts from publicists. But don't let that put you off from getting in touch - please don't be offended if I say no. There's only so much I can do for free.
Currently workshops are held at The Atkinson in Southport and at Cedar Farm Gallery in Mawdesley, Lancashire.
I run workshops on writing, putting yourself out there as an author, imposter syndrome, and writing neurodiverse characters.
I also deliver workshops for writing festivals, such as the London Festival of Writing 2024.
